Have you updated your cyber policies for remote work?

We received a notice from one of our clients today detailing their expectations for vendors visiting their locations in this time of pandemic.

It made me think about other policies that may need updating for the times. For instance, do your cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures address remote work?

If not, now is a good time to start to update them. Make sure to incorporate any new technologies that your organization introduced during the shift to working remotely.

Policies, standards, and procedures are meant to guide behavior. To that end, be mindful that your additions or changes embrace the particular ways your employees need to operate to get their jobs done remotely. Otherwise, you run the risk of the dreaded “shadow IT”, which will be even more shadowy living in workers’ homes.
