Your phone's rear-facing camera is likely better quality than your selfie/front cam, so try propping it up at eye-level and stepping back from the camera a bit. Use a friend or the timer feature.
If you have a phone with portrait mode, use that feature and set the dial on “studio lighting” (on iPhone). If you don't have portrait mode, turn the quality setting up high and ensure it's in focus.
If you're indoors, don't stand directly against a wall, but create a bit of distance between you and your background. Try to avoid any distracting items that draw attention away from your great smile.
